The materials of our lingerie - can we also have the sustainable option?
Since environmental protection and sustainability are very important to us, we carefully select the materials for every Coco Malou. We are constantly looking for alternatives to conventional ingredients and design our lingerie to be as eco-friendly and skin-friendly as possible.
Making a real difference
All the materials we use are made Europe. In terms of sustainability, quality and longevity, we want to make a real difference. Here we show you how:
- Our lace is made from recycled materials to reduce the use of virgin materials.
- The main fabric of our products consists of silky soft Tencel Lyocell. The raw material is wood and the manufacturing process is particularly environmentally friendly, has great properties and is manufactured by the Lenzing company in Austria.
- Our gold accessories such as rings, sliders and the closure from bra Louisa are made of high-quality, nickel-free metal instead of plastic. They are therefore particularly durable and elegant. They are also made in Germany and are OEKO-Tex Level 1 certified. This is the strictest certification that also applies to baby products.
The composition of our laces:
Lace is usually made of polyamide and elastane. The recycled polyamide Q-nova® is made in Italy using textile leftovers from production. The elastane ROICA™ ECO-SMART consists of up to 50% pre-consumer waste. Both are certified with the Global Recycle Standard.
Our lace is also OEKO-TEX® Step certified. This characterizes the sustainable manufacturing process, in which ecological and social criteria are evaluated.

The production of Tencel™:
The pulp, which consists of cellulose, is dissolved and then processed into a fiber. The special feature: 99.9% of the solvents go back into the production cycle.
This makes the lyocell process particularly sustainable, because the pulp and fiber production takes place in a closed cycle. In contrast to other wood-based substances, only a single solvent is required, which can also be continuously recycled.
Tencel™ has great wearing properties. Bacterial growth is particularly low and even beats fabrics like cotton. The fiber leaves a cool and dry feeling on the skin. The structure of the cellulose fiber also ensures that moisture is transported away, which makes Tencel™ particularly breathable. The fiber is characterized by its high level of comfort, soft texture and high resistance.
